Tennessee Libraries is a medium for professional and scholarly research and a forum for the discussion of issues related to library and information services in Tennessee. Tennessee Libraries seeks articles on all types of libraries and library activities. Please submit manuscripts to our online submission manager

Tennessee Libraries particularly invites the participation of Tennessee and regional librarians and writers who are new to the field of library science.

Manuscripts of the following nature will be considered:

Scholarly Articles

Peer reviewed. Scholarly articles present primary research (broadly defined) on current library practice or historical analysis of library trends, using quantitative or qualitative evaluations.   Manuscripts should include a literature review, and authors must provide complete references.

These articles will be submitted to two or more external readers for blind review. This may result in a request for revision, recommendation for inclusion in a non peer-reviewed section, or recommendation that an article not be accepted. Final decisions regarding acceptance, rejection, or revision are made by the editors of this journal.

Articles -- From the Field

Not peer reviewed. Manuscripts appropriate to this section include:

  • State of the art reviews designed to bring Tennessee librarians up to date;
  • Reports of studies, surveys, or programs relevant to libraries in Tennessee; and
  • Case studies and best practice articles.
  • Position pieces which inform readers of, or stimulate discussion about, significant library-related issues.

From the Field articles follow the same style guidelines as Scholarly Articles, but to expedite the publishing process, they do not undergo formal peer review. However, the editors of Tennessee Libraries may request edits or rewrites, or may suggest that an article be moved to the Scholarly section.
